   Hi guys,

   I'm wondering if someone can shed any light on the FTP to XML as I'd like to test out the separating of HTML and content. The only clue really is here http://www.pagelime.com/about/technology/integration/ and a few bits and pieces about the XML gallery which isn't quite the same thing.

   I think this is a potentially powerful setup on Pagelime, but I'm yet to figure it out ... do you just code as normal and pagelime does everything for you, or do you have to include similar PHP tags as in the above link? Either way I can't get it working.

   Is FTP - XML a feature that's being used much, and will be progressed in future or are we on our own for the time being?! Just be interested if it's worth spending the time on it ;)

   Hi Rob,

   Pagelime always published XML files silently to cms-assets/xml on your server whenever you publish a page. You can use these however you like... however, if you want Pagelime to publish ONLY these XML files (never overwrite your content) then you would set your site to use FTP-XML publishing.

   Do you use PHP for your pages?

   We've got some PHP code that allows you to pull in content to pages with this method. Let me see if I can throw that up on github or Google Code.

   Hi Emil,

   So, I've just done a quick check with PHP (didn't realise it had to be PHP) and it's publishing the XML now. It would be really helpful to have a look at the PHP code if you can put it online, I've only dealt with XML a little but it sounds like it could save me a ton of work for the templates I'm using.

   If I use this code, will Pagelime work as you would expect with normal FTP setting (i.e edit and publish as normal) or would you need to do things manually to pull in XML? It also seems to add a .htaccess file, will this replace any other .htaccess file I have on the server?

   Images don't seem to be publishing with this method but as you know I've had issues with images and XML publishing on the Media Temple servers :(

   Result!

   The images did actually publish properly, my server is just being unusually sluggish. Perhaps this XML business is the way forward ... just out of interest how much take up have you had on the FTP - XML route, and do you plan to support / upgrade it for forseeable future?

   I've got a few websites coming up so a little reassurance would put my mind at rest ;)

   Excuse the bump, any status on this Emil?

   Be great if you could stick the code on github and let me know if I'm understanding the way FTP > XML works, i.e. index.php content publishes out as XML only and the same php file pulls that data in.
