Working on moving a clients completed site from hosting on my own server, to theirs. I can ftp to their server with my ftp client but the same username and password does not allow me to connect with pagelime. Pagelime still works great on the test site on my server, so it seems to be something on the clients server. Oddly enough, it worked fine yesterday. When the client added another domain name (unrelated) to his hosting, pagelime will no longer connect. Any thoughts? Website is www.austinrugby.com
Can connect with ftp client but not pagelime.

I just found this topic, I am having the same problem. I can connect to my website with an ftp client, but it will not connect when using pagelime with the same credentials...

sounds like a bug or something, I am having the same issue. Hopefully we will have a fix soon. I have a client that is waiting to launch.

While I have the 3 of you here, we might be able to trouble shoot this with groupthink! First off, can you all make sure that you can connect with your FTP clients ONLY using PASSIVE mode.

yup I can log in using filezilla. I think it logs in via passive modes because it states it in the log.
"227 Entering Passive Mode"
Otherwise I am not sure how to initiate the other.

Yes, I can also log in via filezilla when I changed the mode to passive.

I'm getting this: Oops! We've encountered a problem.
There was a problem connecting to your FTP Server
(show log)220 ProFTPD 1.3.2 Server (Main FTP Server) [98.130.2.17]
.
USER c293959
331 Password required for c293959
.
PASS ****
530 Login incorrect.
.
QUIT
221 Goodbye.
But I can get it fine with Dreamweaver. I tried re inputting all of the FTP connect info in Pagelime but I just get a red X when I test. Any ideas?

Soooo can we confirm that everyone is getting this error with
220 ProFTPD 1.3.2 Server ???
This will be really helpful in getting this fixed if it's a problem with that specific 1.3.2 version. - Tom

Hey everyone - here's the story:
1. I just verified that those accounts (those of you that sent them in) do work from our test data center (not the live one). So I can actually add them to the test version of Pagelime just fine.
2. However, it does not work from the production data network with the following error:
Response: 530 Login incorrect.
Error: Critical error
Error: Could not connect to serverThis pretty much means that your host has a firewall prohibiting a connection from Pagelime from connecting at the login level. If I had to guess, it's because the server performs a login + IP check at the point when the password is sent over.
Can you check with your hosts and ask to add an exception for Pagelime?

Thanks for all of the info, I apologize for not responding sooner since I was out for the holidays. I am going to check with their hosting and see if it is a firewall.
I am back at work and will be able to trouble shoot.

Hi All,
We do feel like this is more insidious than just a firewall issue (though) I'm not yet willing to rule it out.
We're working with IX Webhosting to get to the bottom of this.
Best,
EmilPosted 1 year ago # -
Thank you so much Emil! Suddenly everything connected as it should and we have been editing the page with ease! Not sure if you got IX to change anything on their end but as of now, we are moving smoothly.
Thanks you so much. You guys are all kinds of awesome.

They've rolled out updates to some of their servers for ProFTP, but not all of them. We're standing by for additional feedback from their end.
I hope other folks start seeing this resolved as well.

Everything looks good on my end now thanks!

Hi there,
I'm also having this problem. And I have checked with my hosting company; and they have no firewall that they are aware of that would restrict access from Pagelime. The information I'm typing in is correct but Pagelime is just giving me a big red cross when I try to enter the data for a new site - any ideas?
Many thanks :)

Hi again,
Still having the same issue, I have clients waiting on websites so could really do with a response if possible. The ftp details are correct when I enter them in pagelime, but it isn't accepting them (And my website host doesn't have a restricting firewall)
Please respond asap
Much appreciated :)

I think I'm in the same boat as Gabrielle... I can connect via Dreamweaver and FTP client, and while Pagelime connects to the root directory, it doesn't show me any of the directories within that (so I can't navigate to my public_html folder where the index.php file is located).

This might be very different. Web_Diva yours sounds like it's a Passive Mode problem. If you can see your folders. Are you sure your FTP has Passive mode available?
Gabrielle can you send me the error log message you are receiving to tom[at]pagelime.com?

That's the thing... I can't see any folders. It connects to the ROOT (I can see 'root'), but no folders are visible, neither are the contents of the folders. Not sure on the Passive issue... I'm checking on that now.

Ah, apologies... it was a passive FTP issue on our end. Sometimes IT needs to talk to DEV. ; )
