CNAME and the clients login page

Hi all,

Newbie to PageLime so just working my way around the system. I've set up a sub domain and pointed it to cms.pagelime.com using CNAME.

When I now look at my login page on the subdomain, unfortunately it still refers to PageLime and has the login feature for my clients to try and use a google account etc.

I really would only want them to see the CMS login box that currently appears on the right, and I would want to see my branding that I've added. Is this even possible? am I missing something really obvious somewhere?

Hi Adrian!

You need to go to your account settings and enter the cname in there as such:

"cms.yourdomain.com" (obviously replace "yourdomain" with your domain)

This will let PageLime know to associate that CNAME to your account and pull up your logo/branding etc.

It will also remove the OpenID login on the left.

Thanks Emil,

I've already done this but unfortunately that doesn't appear to have taken effect.

My address I've used is http://panel.borkala.co.uk and entered this into the settings for cname in pagelime.

Fixed it for ya - drop the HTTP:// and just use - panel.borkala.co.uk.

Also - I noticed you didn't specify a light color in your custom theme colors, that's why you still have green text in there. Use a white or something to get rid of that :).

I've done what you suggested above, and my subdomain mask ( my.pixalies.com ) is working now, BUT i still have the green text (log in to pagelime) and the logging feature,

please help me

Hey Pixalies, Did you add "my.pixalies.com" to the CNAME field in the account settings screen in PageLime?

Once you add it there, everything's going to start working.

i did and if you go to my.pixalies.com you will see the login form with the mask, but the google, facebook log in feature are still there

OK - I'm doing something really stupid here and not sure what. Read everything above and something wrong. Settings are:

Domain: www.insight-cms.com
Subdomain: cms
Cname: cms -> cms.pagelime.com
Pagelime custom url setting: cms.insight-cms.com

Now the stupid question, what should I be entering into the browser address to get custom pagelime control panel? Seems whatever I enter I either get the website displayed or a not found. I've tried:

http://cms.insight-cms.com/ {displays website}
http://www.insight-cms.com/ {displays directory of root}
http://www.insight-cms.com/cms/ {displays website}
http://www.insight-cms.com/CMS/Login.aspx {broken link}
http://cms.insight-cms.com/CMS/Login.aspx {broken link}

I know this is really stupid :(

Hi Mark,

This is really odd, looks like the CNAME just isn't set up correctly. It seems to still redirect to your website instead of ours.

What host are you using?

The host is a UK host, Virtualnames.co.uk.

We have several clients using this and several cname settings in place so unless there is something wrong with the current domain/server we registered then it should be working.

It looks like my logic above was correct so now investigating with Virtualnames to see if they can help....

FYI - new security feature on Virtualnames hosting was my undoing.

The domain was just registered and the DNS portal now has a new security option to stop any unauthorised domain routing.... And I didn't see this new feature button and therefore didn't authorise the CNAME...

So user error on this. :)
