   I am currently setting up a site that I want to use pagelime on. I want the client to be responsible for all the content. I told my client they could add all the content with pagelime and once the site is done - I can make it "live" (move the new site to the root directory and remove their old website)...

   I am building the new website in the directory /_new/. Once the site is done, I want to move it to the web root.

   One of the reasons I did this is because I want all the client's images etc. to be available inside page lime.

   My question is:
   Is there a way to move a website once it has been setup in page lime and still maintain the pages, templates, and images that I imported?

   I don't want to change domains - just move the website to the web root directory.

   Hm.. yes there is, but i just tested it out and there's a whole bunch of things to worry about, so my recommendation is to just set up a separate site once you've moved the files - it will be way quicker and much cleaner.

   Ok, I will figure something out. I am going to run into this a lot... maybe there is a way I can change my workflow... but I usually do not build all the content pages for my clients, I let them do it with the CMS - then move the site when they are ready to go live... I am mostly concerned about the images and documents in the file manager(s).

   Is there a way to FTP images/files into the files manager? This would be a slice of pie!

   I just did a test on one of my sites in pagelime and uploaded an image... I don't see where the images are being stored on my FTP. I read somewhere that all the assets etc. are published to my server/hosting... looking... I see the cms-assets directory for the XML - but not for images and files.

   The assets are published ONLY when you publish a page that contains an asset. So when you change an image in your page, that image will get published to the cms-assets folder.

   Alternately, if you create folders in your image gallery, you can publish entire folders and an accompanying XML file so that you can create slideshows and dynamic galleries.

   Our development process is similar to Joshua's. We build on one domain and publish to the live site at launch. I've just done this with our first Pagelime site - copied the entire cms-assets folder (including a published gallery) from the development site, loaded the files to the live domain and created a new account in Pagelime for the client. The live site is all in order but it's a bit disconcerting not to see any of those uploaded files showing in the Manage Images area.

   I recreated the folder I used to set up the photo gallery for the client's site. Should I be uploading all the previously published images in there as well? Will they all need to be renamed after they're uploaded (the files were renamed to create the captions for the photo gallery)?

   Hey Sandi, the images in the image gallery don't correlate to published images on your site. You've got nothing to worry about, your approach should work just fine, and yes, you can re-upload the old images in there with no worries.

   I actually thing in your case you could just change the URL in the development site settings and you should be good to go. I'd give it a quick test on a test site before doing it just to make sure there's not something I'm missing :)

   Hi, I pretty much have the same requirements to let my clients populate their sites in a sub domain or testing space and then go live. I guess the cms-assets folder is fine, it sits in the root regardless of the location of the site so paths to images are like this: /cms-assets/rendered-images/file-name.jpg.

   However the problem arises with links. If you use pagelime to link to a page it uses the full path, in my case it's: http://www.jnp.adelante-testing.co.uk/casestudies/commercial/duval_house.php

   So if I move the completed site to it's final location, that page is at: http://www.jnpgroup.co.uk/casestudies/commercial/duval_house.php any links my client has put in will be broken.

   Probably a 'find and replace' all instances of 'jnp.adelante-testing.co.uk' and change to 'jnpgroup.co.uk' would be the obvious solution.

   If you have any other suggestions I'd like to know, guess this will be an ongoing issue.

   Yeah, this goes nicely with my old "copy a site wholesale" request on UserVoice.

   I can imagine all the potential headaches this kind of thing causes from the PageLime end. Lots of people are going to click "Duplicate Site" and break all kinds of directory specific permissions and then show up saying "It don't werk right!" Still, might be a decent feature for Business or Pro users at some point.

   Right now when we want to reproduce 40 landing pages for our keywords from one domain to another we copy them over by FTP, adjust everything we can in the code native and then use PageLime to re-add the images and such. Not the end of the world, but if there were a serviceable way for magic to ensue and solve all our problems it would of course be nice.
