I’m currently integrating Pagelime CMS on a number of sites. One of the first to go live is for a UK based travel and events marketing company called Wowbean. See: http://www.wowbean.net
The editable pages centre around the ‘News & Offers’ section. The introduction page to the news stories has been set-up on a separate sub domain which appears on this page within an iFrame. Click through to more information and you’ll find the main story on a unique page created by the client using pre-set templates within Pagelime.
Whilst the client is delighted with the control he has over the news content I’m still in the process of refining the site and there are a few minor issues I would like to fix.
On the main ‘News & Offers’ page it would have been very useful to get ‘repeat regions’ to work – alas this wasn’t very successful so I resigned myself to making static image and text frames. The client mentioned that it would be a good idea if the images could incorporate hyperlinks to the main news story as well as the link in the text. Unfortunately I’ve found no means to add a hyperlink to a fixed image frame. I may consider later changing this whole section to a large editable field with inline images that I know hyperlinks can be applied to. The advantage of using an iFrame here is that I can test an alternative page offsite and simply update the URL within the iFrame if and when I want to switch.
As I mentioned the main news stories are complete pages created from a template within Pagelime with their own unique URL. This works well especially as e-mail newsletters link directly to each unique story. The only problem is when displayed within the web browser the page takes on the name of the original template – the only fix I’ve found for this so far is to manually update the html copy with a meaningful page name.
I hope by posting this link to a working example of Pagelime in action it might help others with their CMS integration or someone may post their own workaround solutions to some of the issues I’ve highlighted.
I’m not sure why more users are not posting example projects on this section of the forum. It’s easier to understanding Pagelime’s potential when you can see real applications. I would be very interested to see how other people are using Pagelime on their sites.
For the record this site example was created with Softpress Freeway on a Mac.
